Ex Libris Membership and Donations

The Ex Libris Association (ELA) membership is open to all interested parties but is primarily drawn from the ranks of retired librarians, library technicians, archivists, records managers, information technologists, and those who have worked in libraries, archives, museums, etc. If you have worked as an information professional, you can benefit from joining ELA. The Association is also a registered charitable and non-profit organization that welcomes financial support for its activities.

How to Join ELA

Membership costs $35 per year and you will receive a charitable receipt. You can print and complete our MEMBERSHIP BROCHURE AND FORM then return it with a cheque to our mailing address below, use an email e-transfer, OR

pay online at our site with the registered charity, CanadaHelps which provides an online charitable receipt OR

If you are a retired member of the Ontario Library Association, membership in both is only $50 per year, through OLA. You can combine the benefits of two associations by joining at OLA’s website and choosing the option tab “Ex Libris + OLA Membership” at the Ontario Library Association website. You can also choose the join ELA separately at the same site.

Your membership benefits

  • Keep in touch with friends and acquaintances;
  • Attend the virtual Annual Conference with presentations on issues and topics of current interest;
  • Receive ELAN, the Ex Libris Association Newsletter which keeps track of what’s going on in the profession;
  • Attend tours, sponsored talks, virtual presentations;
  • Help nominate a W. Kaye Lamb Award for Service to Seniors, a biennial award open to all Canadian libraries;
  • Contribute to our Indigenous student bursary;
  • Participate on our Facebook site or our Listserv to stay in touch with current news;
  • Receive a directory of ELA members updated annually;
  • Receive a tax deduction for your membership fee.

ELA is a charitable and non-profit organization that welcomes financial support so we may accomplish our our programs, advocacy, and needs. You may give a general donation or designate your contribution for a specific purpose. An easy way to contribute is to pay online at our designated ELA page with the registered charity CanadaHelps which provides an online charitable receipt via email or print.
